Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar is taking a nostalgic trip down memory lane as his romantic drama ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ completes nearly ten years since its release. Sharing his excitement on social media, Johar called the film “the most personal project” of his career reflecting on the emotional journey behind the scenes.
The 2016 hit which starred Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, marked Karan Johar’s return to directing after four years since ‘Student of the Year’.

In his post, Karan Johar shared a string of candid photographs from the film’s sets. These behind-the-scenes snapshots show him working closely with the cast, explaining scenes, and sharing lighthearted moments that captured the camaraderie between the actors and crew.
“One year short of a decade and it honestly feels like yesterday when I was on set of perhaps the most personal film I have ever made,” he wrote. “I was thrilled to be doing what I do, with people who were just exceptional as artists from the cast to the crew. My dil will never forget this!! Thank you for letting Ae Dil Hai Mushkil grow… For breathing life and love into it till now!!”
‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ tells the story of Ayan, Alizeh and Saba whose intertwined lives explore the highs and lows of love, heartbreak, and friendship.
Looking back, Karan Johar admitted that working on the movie left a lasting impact on him, both personally and professionally.
